In Amsterdam, you don't get free water with meals. (Well, you don't tip, either.) But when you order water, you have to choose between Spa Rood (carbonated) and Spa Blauwe (non-carbonated) - Spa being their choice brand of water, like Evian. (Which, I might add, was nowhere to be found in Amsterdam... hmm...) At first, we were told that we could have water "with gas" or "without gas," respectively, before we realized what they meant... |

...anyway, we took to shrieking "SPA BLAUWE!" as if we were Frau Farbissnau from Austin Powers or something, much to the amusement of Seth and myself, but not to others. But to placate me, the group did agree to have their picture taken in front of the Blauwe Restaurant, where we would have eaten had it not been closed for renovations. I later realized that I had been drinking imported Spa Blauwe from the local deli for months... |
