GRAPHIC WORK
Miscellaneous things I've done over the years...
TAPE COVER - I
COULD HURT A FLY
Because I
think that good art should always accompany good music, I make tape covers
for all albums I tape or for any mix tapes I make. The title of this mix
tape is from a Built To Spill Song. Gerimi helped me with this one.
CD COVER - SCIENTIST
STUDIES
I made a compilation
of Death Cab For Cutie tracks for Tim; the cover is a manipulation of a
photo taken at Boston's Museum of Science. Tim's a big fan of 4AD artwork,
I think this is my attempt to invoke that design style.
CD COVER - SUBSTANCE
This is a
CD I made for Rob. It was an electroclash-y comp and I wanted something
that suggested movement. The photo on the cover isn't manipulated - I simply
changed the settings on my camera on a drive down to DC.
CD COVER - 586
I'll admit
that I bastardized my original design for multiple CDs for friends with
different titles; this is the original CD I created it for. The cover is
a largely un-manipulated photo of my shower - the back, my shower curtain!
CD COVER - HAPPY
HOLIDAYS, HARLOTS!
Back in the
day, I used to make holiday cards for my friends. Then after two years of
'cheating' and sending around links to a handful of cards on my site (see
here for examples), I decided to go back to making things for my friends.
For some reason, I thought making them CDs was a good idea. Yikes! Anyway,
here's the art. Much of it is bastardized/dirty-fied versions of `40s and
`50s holiday ads, but I think I added a little something special to each
one.
TAPE COVER - Rolling
Stones, REWIND
This is a
tape cover for a tape I made for a copy of the Rolling Stones' Rewind
album; the background is the result of me having fun with a Xerox machine.
POSTER - 1984
This is
the poster for my high school's production of 1984, from 1994.
PROGRAM COVER - 1984
The program
cover from the same production. When the audience was ushered in, all the
lights in the theatre had been tinted red so that the only part of the program
that could be seen (as the interior was all printed in red) was the title
and the graphic.
